BMI Calculator

Before we can say anything about obesity we need some form of measurement to determine who is and who isn't obese. For these purposes the accepted standard is what is know as the BMI (Body mass indes). It is used to measure the level of obesity in an individual.
What is your height?
  :   feet     inches
What is your weight?
  :   lbs

Waist-to-Hip Calculator

Your shape can be defined into 3: Pear-shape where fat builds up on your hips, Apple-shape is where fat builds up more around your waist and upper torso, and Avocado-shape which is somewhere in between.

Research shows that people with "apple" and "avocado-shaped" bodies face more health risks that those with "pear-shaped" bodies. Bodies like these can put you at risk of certain weight-related health conditions, including heart disease, stroke, and diabetes. Obesity experts now use body mass index (BMI) in combination with the Waist-to-Hip Ratio to get the best understanding of one's body.

To measure your waist and hip sizes, just use a measuring tape and stand relaxed:
  • For your waist, measure around the narrowest part of your waist (or if that isn't easy to find, measure at your belly button).
  • For your hip size, measure around the widest part of your hips.
