Kelly Osbourne wept with joy after losing weightAdded on 24/02/10 Author: Graham Pembrey
In a revelation that is likely to inspire dieters, Kelly Osbourne has said she was left “in tears” of joy after reading complimentary reports about her weight loss in the media. The daughter of rocker Ozzy Osbourne and X Factor judge Sharon told reporters last year that she shed 15 pounds while preparing to appear on TV show Dancing With The Stars. Having now slimmed to a size six, she looks great and has received flattering feedback from newspapers about her new body size. “I didn’t detox to lose weight,” insisted the star. Yet giving an insight into her weight loss secrets she added: “cutting out carbs and sugar definitely helped”. Another top tip for dieters, she said, was to have a light and nutritious snack at bedtime to keep your metabolism going. “Half an apple before you go to sleep really helps,” she said. For dieters, this may seem a strange recommendation; it's a commonly held belief that eating before bed is not a good idea when you're losing weight. Yet Kelly's story suggests this isn't necessarily the case. And indeed, medical experts say there is a lack of evidence for this theory. The most important thing is balancing your calorie intake with excercise to burn those calories off, regardless of what time you take in those calories. Aside from watching her food, exercise has clearly helped Kelly too. Dancing With The Stars was a physically demanding experience that required her to train hard, and watch what she was eating. Kelly’s story goes to show that the key factors of any weight loss plan are being physically active, and eating a healthy diet. No matter what your size, with discipline and determination, regaining a healthy size is possible. Aside from feeling better about yourself losing weight can reduce your risk of serious health problems, from diabetes to heart disease. Just as Kelly and other celebrities – including The Apprentice star Claire Young – have lost weight, so can you. Claire Young recently gave an exclusive interview to Weight World about how she lost a staggering 3.5 stone. |
