Elizabeth Hurley has caused controversy recently, after she revealed that she only drinks a glass of water for breakfast in order to maintain her slim figure.

The 45 year old model revealed that she often only drinks a glass of hot water, sometimes followed by coffee or an oat bar, instead of eating a full breakfast. ‘My diet survived the onslaught of phenomenal vacation food-doctors disagree, but I swear by almost nothing for breakfast for adults’ tweeted the mum.

“Not the breakfast that I would recommend”

Miss Hurley has received much praise for her slim figure, but many health experts have spoken out against her dietary habits. She has been known to adopt a number of different weight loss diets in recent years. In the past she has fasted on oat cakes, and has embraced a less that appetising watercress soup diet in order to lose weight.

“This is not the breakfast that I would recommend to people with regular lives” said leading nutritionist Carina Norris. “If you think that some hot water and a coffee is all you need to look like Liz Hurley, then I'm afraid you are wrong”.

Potential obesity

Recent figures released have revealed that a number of children in the UK are regularly skipping breakfast. In fact, the children who do miss the first meal of the day are running a bigger risk of potential obesity.

The study was conducted here in the UK, where experts monitored around 4,300 school children. They found that 32% of the kids had got in to the habit of not eating before school. Girls who regularly skipped breakfast were found to be 92% more likely to become obese. Likewise, boys who skipped breakfast were found to be more susceptible to becoming obese, with a 62% rate.
