What is a yoga block?

Yoga blocks are accessories used in yoga positions. The blocks will assist you in arranging your body effectively, allowing you to gain more from stretches and therefore maximise your workout routine. Yoga blocks are used for supporting the head while doing forward bends, lifts in seated twists, and cushioning the shoulder during shoulder stands (requiring 4 blocks). The yoga block can be also be used to assist your hands and feet to allow for correct alignment.

Can I benefit from Yoga Blocks and will they work for me?

Many people who practice yoga will find themselves unable to achieve proper alignment for each of the many yoga positions. This may be perhaps due to a lack of flexibility or training. However, adding these yoga blocks to your routine, will allow for this correct posture.

If you suffer from tight hamstrings, short Achilles tendons, or just simply a lack of flexibility, you are able to benefit from the use of yoga blocks to help achieve your posture. The blocks lift you higher off the ground allowing you to execute the posture correctly. By using the blocks, you will eventually be able to condition your muscles to the point where you are able to manoeuvre yourself into a variety of positions, and thus will eventually become advanced enough that you will no longer require the blocks.
